Streamline Publishing is a media, education and events company that creates magazines, art instruction and live art and broadcasting events for artists, art collectors and radio and television professionals.

Founded in 1986 by Eric Rhoads and based in Boca Raton, Florida, Streamline publishes Fine Art Connoisseur, PleinAir and Radio Ink, runs PaintTube.tv and Art School Live, and produces the Plein Air Convention & Expo and a series of online “Live” art conferences. Its mission is to help people of all ages reach their full creative potential, and to operate with generosity in all aspects of business, improving the lives of its readers, customers, advertisers, suppliers and team members.

What Streamline Publishing does

Streamline has two divisions. Streamline Art is organized around three pillars: Inspiration, Instruction, and Events & Experiences. Streamline Radio & TV provides trade media and events for the broadcasting industry.

Art magazines

Fine Art Connoisseur covers historical and contemporary representational painting, sculpture, drawing and prints for collectors, in plain language with large color images. PleinAir covers plein air artists, techniques, demonstrations, events and collecting. PleinAir is published bi-monthly, and both magazines are available in print and digital editions (subscribe to Fine Art Connoisseur, subscribe to PleinAir).

Art websites, newsletters and podcasts

Free websites and email newsletters for specific art communities: OutdoorPainter.com and the daily Plein Air Today, FineArtConnoisseur.com and the weekly Fine Art Today, the daily INSIDEART, the weekly Realism Today, American Watercolor (Tuesdays and Thursdays), Pastel Today, PaintTube Art Notes and Eric Rhoads’ weekly Sunday Coffee. Podcasts include The PleinAir Podcast and the Art Marketing Minute, both hosted by Eric Rhoads, and The Pastel Podcast, hosted by Lisa Skelly and Kari Stober.

Competition and recognition: The Salon Art Prize

The Salon Art Prize (formerly the PleinAir Salon) is a monthly and annual online art competition with 19 categories and over $65,000 in annual cash prizes. The annual Grand Prize winner is featured on the cover of PleinAir magazine, giving emerging and professional artists publicity, feedback and credibility.

Video art instruction: PaintTube.tv

PaintTube.tv is a streaming platform and store with 700+ full-length video courses and workshop replays from renowned painters, produced by Streamline’s in-house video team. Courses are bought once with lifetime access, by streaming, DVD or apps for phone, tablet, computer and Roku.

Free daily lessons: Art School Live

Art School Live is a free one-hour live art lesson with a different artist each weekday at 12 noon ET on YouTube and Facebook, hosted by Eric Rhoads since 2020. It gives anyone a free way to start learning.

Guided learning and community: Chroma

Chroma is a guided artist growth program with live weekday classes, Saturday workshops, monthly projects and expert feedback from a faculty led by Mandy Theis. Its community of 400+ artists follows a clear roadmap of practice and coaching.

Beginner method: Paint By Note

Paint By Note is Eric Rhoads’ simplified beginner system that teaches painting through musical “notes,” with a free guide, practice tools and free video lessons. It removes the fear of color mixing for first-time painters.

Art marketing education

ArtMarketing.com, the Art Marketing Minute podcast, the Art Marketing Boot Camp video series on PaintTube.tv, the book Make More Money Selling Your Art, Art Business Mastery and the Professional Artist archive teach artists how to price, market and sell their work.

Artist communities and memberships

Chroma is Streamline’s membership program for artists, with live classes, expert feedback and a member community. ArtDB is Streamline’s online professional network for the art world. Each art brand also has its own newsletter, podcast and social community, and The Salon Art Prize, Art School Live and the Live events connect artists with peers, instructors and collectors.

Online “Live” art conferences

Streamline Art Events produces interactive virtual conferences on Zoom, each with 30 or more faculty artists and an optional beginner-focused Essential Techniques Day: PleinAir Live, Realism Live, Watercolor Live, Pastel Live, Acrylic Live, Oil Painting Live and Drawing Live, plus one-day events such as Gouache Live. They combine live demos, lectures, critiques, replays and community chat, with no travel costs.

In-person events, retreats and trips

The Plein Air Convention & Expo (PACE) is an annual five-day event, often called the “Woodstock for painters,” where hundreds of outdoor painters learn from top artists through 80+ demos, an expo hall and group paint-outs. The Publisher’s Invitational painting weeks hosted by Eric Rhoads include Paint Adirondacks in New York, Fall Color Week in a different location each fall, and Winter Art Escape in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Streamline also hosts art cruises, and international painting and collector trips pair painting or museum access with travel.

Radio and television media

Radio Ink is the trade magazine for radio station management, published monthly, with a website, books and a free daily email. Radio + Television Business Report (RBR+TVBR) covers broadcast news from Washington to Wall Street, including its free Daily Intelligence Report. Streamline also runs Radio Ink Forecast in New York, the Hispanic Radio Conference and the Radio Masters Sales Summit.
